January 18, 2024 To whom it may concern, I am writing this letter today on behalf of Dean Rider as he pursues internships during his tenure as an SMU student. I have known Dean for close to three years now, through my role as SMU’s Assistant Vice President of Development and External Affairs, and I am consistently impressed by his level of professionalism and work ethic. Dean is a hardworking and thoughtful young man with a strong academic success record on top of his extracurricular activities and foundation work. Dean has helped engage his family’s foundation with SMU in order to fund and highlight Mental Health Initiatives and scientific medical research at the University. Dean is an active leader, and voting member of the foundation board, and consistently showcases leadership and insightful resource deployment as it relates to his role. He balances this personal responsibility with extraordinary grace while simultaneously maintaining a strong academic record. His wisdom is apparent during our interactions and he is meticulous with follow up and gracious with his time and resources. It would be any organizations great pleasure to be able to see Dean’s work ethic and character in any setting, as he is adaptable and introspective in his approach to his tasks.
