Charles Allen Barbour, Jr. Jackson, MS 39211 601-951-1942 cabarbour@mc.edu May 25, 2023 To Whom It May Concern: My name is Charles Allen Barbour, Jr. and I am currently a rising 3L at Mississippi College School of Law. I am looking to join a team whose initiative is to push the GOP forward, strengthen the American foundation in Christian values, and reconstruct our country to be a shining light on the global front. I am someone with several years of official experience in politics and government but have been involved in the political realm my entire life. I am able to offer legal and public policy research and writing skills as well as many other attributes that you may find beneficial. If hired, you will recognize my hard work, dedication to the team, and adaptability to any situation no matter the circumstances. As a project assistant with Balch & Bingham in Jackson, MS, I worked closely with a team of attorneys to aid Mississippians in need. My time here illustrated to me the difficulties that underserved, rural communities experience like housing costs, rising utility rates, and connectivity issues. Additionally, after my externship with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Vicksburg District, Office of Counsel, I have found how important legal and public policy research is to land conservation, environmental quality, land-use planning, and irrigation techniques. Furthermore, I have been conducting my own research on several public policy issues, but three current situations are of particular interest to me. First, how lawmakers plan to handle potential price gouging in the egg industry by companies like Cal-Maine Foods. Second, whether states will follow Mississippi, Arkansas, and others in the restriction of foreign ownership of farmland. And third, as the son of an immigrant from Central America, the rampant H-2A violations across MS are of great interest to me, and if the labor force in agriculture will fully recover. In conclusion, my time in law school has been filled with carrying out the daily operations of my business to sustain my family, continuing my obligations to the Mississippi Army National Guard, and getting the grades acceptable to graduate. My experience and willingness to serve make me a great candidate to aid an organization willing to strengthen the American values of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness in our political system. Thank you for your time. Respectfully, Charles Allen Barbour, Jr.
