VP or Director of Political

Job description

As a POOLHOUSE VP or Director of Political, you’ll lead multiple accounts for our political team which works with Republican candidates, causes and SuperPACs. You’ll bring a senior level of strategic thinking to the POOLHOUSE political team. Daily, you’ll be collaborating with a diverse group of creatives, designers, strategists, and producers, shepherding our strategic initiatives from start to finish and helping our candidates.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Lead scoping, defining, estimating, and managing projects and timelines for political advertising campaigns
  • Execute and hit metrics and internal objectives
  • Ensure processes are followed and adhered to
  • Serve as a lead on day-to-day project management of the firm’s top political client accounts
  • Foster relationships with clients built on outstanding service and trust
  • Lead project status meetings and updates with internal teams and clients
  • Manage your own workflow according to set procedures and timelines with multiple ongoing projects. Understand project priorities in the context of agency and client expectations
  • Manage and participate in testing and quality control for all deliverables
  • Foster business development through connections and working to aide the team with business development needs


  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact with political campaigns, clients, and vendors
  • 6+ years of experience working in political consulting, key agency roles, campaign management, or public official/committee’s senior staff
  • Fantastic interpersonal skills
  • Deep understanding of the current federal public affairs and legislative environment
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a calm sense of overall goals
  • A shared passion and curiosity for making change. This includes comfort with ambiguity, a restlessness that resists the status quo, and a commitment to quality
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to occasionally work long hours, occasional weekends, and travel when necessary
  • Allergic to BS and generally a nice person
