The National Legislative Office of the Fraternal Order of Police, the nation’s largest law enforcement labor organization, is seeking resumes from persons interested in an entry-level/mid-level position. In this role, you’ll work with the Senior Legislative Liaison to advance the FOP’s Federal policy objectives and advocate law enforcement issues to national policymakers on Capitol Hill, within the Federal Government and the Executive Branch.

Responsibilities:
Assist in developing long-term and short-term legislative advocacy strategy and implementation plans;
Coordinate internal and external meetings, briefings, and events;
Support the National FOP’s advocacy and issue campaigns and projects as needed;
Assist in drafting press releases, congressional testimony, weekly updates, letters, digital and social media posts, video/podcast scripts, marketing material, and more;
Conduct research on specific legislation and provide analysis to GMAC staff; and
Attend various meetings and events;
Provide general support for the GMAC staff;
Monitor traditional and social media coverage;
Take part in producing a weekly video podcast, which features a wide range of guests, including Members of Congress and Administration Officials; and
Attend various meetings and events; and
Provide general support for the GMAC staff.

Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate is motivated, pro-active, energetic, and a strategic thinker. Applicants should have strong writing and research abilities, solid time management and organizational skills, and a passion for supporting America’s law enforcement officers.
Previous Hill, legislative affairs, or similar experience preferred, but not required. Computer skills, especially Microsoft Excel, is a definite plus.

Starting salary in the in the low forties with opportunities for advancement for motivated individuals
