Berman and Company is a dynamic public relations firm with a strong and rapidly growing focus on labor and employment issue advocacy. The firm is looking for a Labor Communications Director to manage an expansive portfolio of labor-related issues and high-profile campaigns. The right candidate will have a healthy skepticism of labor union overreach, demonstrated background and interest in labor policy, exceptional communications skills, and media relations experience. This role is in-person. Local or willing-to-relocate candidates only.
What You’ll Do:
- Help oversee the firm’s labor-related campaigns from conception to launch.
- Manage research, campaign messaging, and overall campaign metrics for success.
- Draft and edit press materials, including press releases, op-eds, and statements.
- Work with the press to provide interviews for print, TV, and radio.
- Work with a team to develop creative and eye-catching campaign messaging and collateral.
- Maintain a steady pulse on labor news and related media.
What We Would Like to See:
- Understanding of labor policy and ability to effectively communicate messaging on labor issues both written and oral.
- Ability to create engaging and effective messaging on often-complex topics.
- Desire to push the envelope and come up with creative and eye-catching ways to further our messaging.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage several projects at once.
- Experience developing press materials (press releases, op-eds, written statements, pitches, etc.).
- Comfortable managing high-profile issue-advocacy campaigns, including going on the record with campaign messaging.
